Happy Monday, friends! I'm sharing a beautiful extended family session with you all tonight, thanks for stopping by!
There was a time that I dreaded extended family sessions. Like DREADED them. It was back when I was still attempting to get everyone to smile and look at the camera for every single shot and I made myself miserable. Surely it wasn't easy on my clients either!
As my style developed and I became more comfortable with the fact that I just didn't want to shoot with everyone looking at my camera I freed myself to just have fun with my families at sessions. Now, when shooting extended family sessions, I treat them a lot like a smaller family. We really focus on the connection between the family members and not their connection with me. That said, with extended family sessions I do try a lot harder to get some photos of everyone looking at me and smiling. But generally I wait until we've all gotten a little bit comfortable with each other and are having fun.
I met up with this sweet family on the last day of May after having to reschedule for weather and we were blessed with great weather for their session. It had been cloudy and overcast all day and we actually touched base about moving their session (again! ugh!) but we decided to press on and the sun even came out to play!
Enjoy some of my favorites from their session!
